Why the End of Break Isnt So Bad It was nice being able to travel, sit on the couch, hang out with your dog, and grab food from your kitchen cabinet whenever you wanted. But now you’re back at school, and if you’re finding it hard to get into the swing of things again, you’re not alone. A lot of people struggle with end-of-break-bummers, and I promise it’ll get easier soon. “I was totally in the zone last semester. There’s no way I can get back in it!” There is too a way! I was once talking with someone whose name and face I have now completely forgotten, but they told me that it takes two weeks to develop a habit. Maybe that someone was a TED Talk or a random person from high school. I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you may be may be having a hard time now, but in two weeks, things might be a whole lot easier.   Starting up again is always the hardest part, because you have to have the energy to do it all again. If you’re back at school already, though, that first step is done. Now you just have to keep goingâ€"and you can, since you’ve done it before. It’s hard now, but you’ll be able to adjust soon enough.   “But homework stinks, and I’m not going to do it!” Homework does stink. But it’s a huge part of school, and since you signed up to go here, you might as well play along. There’s light at the end of the tunnel; the last day of the semester is just 16 weeks away at most, and then you get another break. And don’t forget that theres also some light at the start of the tunnel, too. If you’re just beginning classes right now, then you’re walking into one of the most glorious weeks of the semesterâ€"syllabus week. Getting used to classes can be tough, but the workload is usually not so bad those first few days. If you’re not about to begin a new semester (if you’re coming back from fall or winter break, for instance), then … hang in there. “I still don’t want to go back to school!” No one does (except Harry Potterâ€"why didn’t any of us submit our Hogwarts applications on time?). But the great thing about school is that you are surrounded by people who on the same schedule at you. Reach out to your fellow classmates. You can all share the burden of getting back to work; what better way to make friends? Schoolwork itself is hard (because it’s work) but try to remember all the things that you like about school. And before you say there are none, think more, dang it! There must be something about it you like. Here are some things that college offers: FriendsSquirrelsBeing around people your ageCampus resources like gyms, theaters, and cultural centersInteresting classesFun local stores and restaurantsA truly picturesque campus (mind that construction!) If you’re still having a hard time with the idea of going back to school, think about why. Is it because you don’t like what you’re studying? Is it because youre not digging the atmosphere on your campus? If a few weeks go by and you still find yourself unmotivated and upset, then maybe it’s time to reevaluate your situation this semester. Do whats right for you, and remember that there are always, always people there to help you (more people than you even know!). You’ve just come back from a great break, but remember that you had to work for it. You’ll be enjoying another break before you know it, and in the meantime, you’ll get back into school-mode. I bet that once you start learning cool things, you’ll appreciate your classes and start liking school again. (And if all else fails, maybe we can still get into Hogwarts.) Event And Of The Baked By Rudi - 887 Words

event and of the Baked by Rudi. The objective of this is to walk and run on shifts around the athletic complex the entire time of the event. If Baked by Rudi staff members are not walking or running the complex the members are serving cupcakes, cookies and refreshments to customers and runners and explaining who we , Baked by Rudi, are and about what we can do for the customer. The last sales campaign will be more of getting customers to come into the shop and we promote our chosen charity case. This community loves people that care about others. By promoting charity case and telling our customers for donations will not only help the charity of our choosing but our business. When people come into the business they don’t just come in to give to the charity and leave. They come in to buy a product and seeing we care about a charity shows the customers that Baked by Rudi has compassion for an organizations that might be near and dear to itself. In executing this campaign we will have to be in contact with a charity organizations like for example, SIDS for Kids or St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Some big organization or small ones could really trigger a chain reaction of customers. In asking for a donations for the charity the promotion that we will be using is Buy a dozen of customer chosen cupcakes or cookies and twenty percent of the purchase will go to said charity. This will not only show our customers the care of our business but promote our business in a positive way. The

Everyones future depends on their self-belief and how positively they look at the events that occur in their life. This is portrayed through Suzanne Buffam’s â€Å"Trying† and Alix Ohlin’s novel Inside. The speaker and Anne both face inner conflicts; the speaker gains faith in herself which helps her overcome her conflict and have a peaceful state of mind, whereas Anne loses faith in herself which leads to her failure in overcoming her conflict and losing her confidence. The speaker’s reassuring tone shows her peace of mind contrary to which Anne’s melancholic tone which shows her low self-esteem. Furthermore, the speaker’s use of allusion shows her inner peace, which is the result of gaining faith in herself, whereas Anne’s use of diction†¦show more content†¦She has, â€Å"the feeling of knowing nothing this good could last, of getting away with it now, for as long as she could. She is saying that she will always have to abandon the people she loves. She does not understand that if she wants to be with Diane, she needs to have faith in herself. Instead, she keeps thinking the worst of herself and breaks up with Diane. Unlike the speaker who overcomes her conflict by gaining faith, Anne does not overcome her conflict as she loses her faith and ends up being pessimistic. The speaker’s reassuring tone reflects her peace of mind, which is the result of gaining faith in herself whereas Anne’s dejected tone portrays how she does not believe in herself which is the result of losing her faith. The speaker feels at peace because of her faith. She says, â€Å"try not to worry† (Buffam). Only once in a lifetime will a new invention come about to touch every aspect of our lives. Such a device that changes the way we work, live, and play is a special one, indeed. The Microprocessor has been around since 1971 years, but in the last few years it has changed the American calculators to video games and computers (Givone 1). Many microprocessors have been manufactured for all sorts of products; some have succeeded and some have not. This paper will discuss the evolution and history of the most prominent 16 and 32 bit microprocessors in the microcomputer and how they are similar to and different from each other. Because microprocessors are a subject that most people cannot relate to and do not know much about, this paragraph will introduce some of the terms that will be in- volved in the subsequent paragraphs. Throughout the paper the 16-bit and 32-bit mi- croprocessors are compared and contrasted. The number 16 in the 16-bit microproces- sor refers how many registers there are or how much storage is available for the mi- croprocessor (Aumiaux, 3). The microprocessor has a memory address such as A16, and at this address the specific commands to the microprocessor are stored in the memory of the computer (Aumiaux, 3). So with the 16-bit microprocessor there are 576 places to store data. With the 32-bit microprocessor there are twice as many places to store data making the microprocessor faster. Another common term which is mentioned frequently in the paper is the oscil- lator or the time at which the processors "clock" ticks. The oscillator is the pace maker for the microprocessor which tells what frequency the microprocessor can proc- ess information, this value is measured in Mega-hertz or MHz. A nanosecond is a measurement of time in a processor, or a billionth of a second. This is used to measure the time it takes for the computer to execute an instructions, other wise knows as a cy- cle. There are many different types of companies of which all have their own family of processors. Since the individual processors in the families were developed over a fairly long period of time, it is hard to distinguish which processors were introduced in order. This paper will mention the families of processors in no particular order. The first microprocessor that will be discussed is the family of microprocessors called the 9900 series manufactured by Texas Instruments during the mid-70s and was developed from the architecture of the 900 minicomputer series (Titus, 178). There were five dif- ferent actual microprocessors that were designed in this family, they were the TMS9900, TMS9980A, TMS9981, TMS9985, and the TMS9940. The TMS9900 was the first of these microprocessors so the next four of the microprocessors where simply variations of the TMS9900 (Titus, 178). The 9900 series microprocessors runs with 64K memory and besides the fact that the 9900 is a 16-bit microprocessor, only 15 of the address memory circuits are in use (Titus, 179). The 16th address is used for the computer to distinguish between word and data functions (Titus, 179. The 9900 series microprocessors runs from 300 nanoseconds to 500 ns from 2MHz to 3.3MHz and even some variations of the original microprocessor where made to go up to 4MHz (Avtar, 115). The next microprocessor that will be discussed is the LSI-11 which was pro- duced from the structural plans of the PDP-11 minicomputer family. There are three microprocessors in the LSI-11 family they are the LSI-11, LSI-11/2, and the much im- proved over the others is the LSI-11/32 (Titus, 131). The big difference between the LSI-11 family of microprocessors and other similar microprocessors of its kind is they have the instruction codes of a microcomputer but since the LSI-11 microprocessor originated from the PDP-11 family it is a multi-microprocessor (Avtar, 207). The fact that the LSI-11 microprocessor is a multi-microprocessor means that many other mi- croprocessors are used in conjunction with the LSI-11 to function properly (Avtar, 207). The LSI-11 microprocessor has a direct processing speed of 16-bit word and 7- bit data, however the improved LSI-11/22 can directly process 64-bit data (Titus, 131). The average time that the LSI-11 and LSI-11/2 process at are 380 nanoseconds, while the LSI-11/23 is clocked at 300 nanoseconds (Titus, 132). There are some great strengths that lie in the LSI-11 family, some of which are the efficient way at which the microprocessor processes and the ability to run minicomputer software which leads to great hardware support (Avtar, 179). A machine that has done all this and more now exists in nearly every business in the U.S. and one out of every two households. This incredible invention is the computer. The electronic computer has been around for over a half-century, but its ancestors have been around for 2000 years. However, only in the last 40 years has it changed the American society. From the first wooden abacus to the latest high-speed microprocessor, the computer has changed nearly every aspect of people's lives for the better. The very earliest existence of the modern day computer's ancestor is the abacus. These date back to almost 2000 years ago. It is simply a wooden rack holding parallel wires on which beads are strung. When these beads are moved along the wire according to "programming" rules that the user must memorize, all ordina ry arithmetic operations can be performed. The next innovation in computers took place in 1694 when Blaise Pascal invented the first digital calculating machine. It could only add numbers and they had to be entered by turning dials. It was designed to help Pascal's father who was a tax collector. In the early 1800's, a mathematics professor named Charles Babbage designed an automatic calculation machine. It was steam powered and could store up to 1000 50-digit numbers. Built in to his machine were operations that included everything a modern general-purpose computer would need. It was programmed by--and stored data on--cards with holes punched in them, appropriately called punchcards. His inventions were failures for the most part because of the lack of precision machining techniques used at the time and the lack of demand for such a device. After Babbage, people began to lose interest in computers. However, between 1850 and 1900 there were great advances in mathematics and physics that began to rekindle the interest. Many of these new advances involved complex calculations and formulas that were very time consuming for human calculation. The first major use for a computer in the U.S. was during the 1890 census. Two men, Herman Hollerith and James Powers, developed a new punched-card system that could automatically read information on cards without human intervention. Since the population of the U.S. was increasing so fast, the computer was an essential tool in tabulating the totals. These advantages were noted by commercial industries and soon led to the development of improved punch-card business-machine systems by International Business Machines (IBM), Remington-Rand, Burroughs, and other corporations. By modern standards the punched-card machines were slow, typically processing from 50 to 250 cards per minute, with each card holding up to 80 digits. At the time, however, punched cards were an enormous step forward; they provided a means of input, output, a nd memory storage on a massive scale. For more than 50 years following their first use, punched-card machines did the bulk of the world's business computing and a good portion of the computing work in science. By the late 1930s punched-card machine techniques had become so well established and reliable that Howard Hathaway Aiken, in collaboration with engineers at IBM, undertook construction of a large automatic digital computer based on standard IBM electromechanical parts. Aiken's machine, called the Harvard Mark I, handled 23-digit numbers and could perform all four arithmetic operations. Also, it had special built-in programs to handle logarithms and trigonometric functions. The Mark I was controlled from prepunched paper tape. Output was by cardpunch and electric typewriter. It was slow, requiring 3 to 5 seconds for a multiplication, but it was fully automatic and could complete long computations without human intervention. The outbreak of World War II produced a desperate need for computing capability, especially for the military. New weapons systems were produced which needed trajectory tables and other essential data. In 1942, John P. Eckert, John W. Mauchley, and their associates at the University of Pennsylvania decided to build a high-speed electronic computer to do the job. ECE Lab Report essays In this experiment, we constructed a circuit that was connected to a 7-panel writing board. The 6 inputs from the circuit were hooked up to the corresponding pins on the XS40 FPGA board. Then 6 outputs from the corresponding pins on the XS40 FPGA board were then connected to a ribbon cable that was connected to a computer. When the circuit was complete, we wrote a program in C++ to interface the hardware with the PC using its parallel-I/O port. The program was then improved to implement a calculator interface and performed mathematical operations. There were 15 different combinations on writing panel, which corresponded to 10 different digits, 4 different operands, and an equal sign. Writing panel: it is consisted of 7 metallic panels. Each panel is soldered to a wire, which is connected to the D-latch. The writing panel is used for the user to input the combination of the corresponding number, operand, and equal sign. 7474 D-latch: four chips were used during this lab because we need 7 inputs (Preset). Each panel from the writing board is connected to the PRE on the D-latch to set the state, 1 being used and 0 being unused. And while this is like citing a full book, it does differ in a few ways. Let’s look, then, at how to cite a chapter from an edited book with Oxford referencing. In-Text Citations for a Chapter from an Edited Book All versions of Oxford referencing use a footnote and bibliography system. As such, we indicate citations with superscript numbers in the main text: Citations usually appear after final punctuation in a sentence.1 In the accompanying footnote, you then need to give the following information for the chapter of the book you are citing: n. Chapter Author’s Initial(s) and Surname, â€Å"Chapter Title,† in Editor’s Initial(s) and Surname (ed.), Book Title, place of publication, publisher, year, page number(s). In practice, then, a footnote citation for a chapter from an edited book would look something like this: 1. M. L. Rosenzweig, â€Å"Do Animals Choose Habitats?,† in M. Berkoff and D. Jamieson (eds.), Readings in Animal Cognition, Cambridge, Bradford Books, 1999, p. 189. The page numbers here should indicate the specific section you’re citing. You will then give the complete page range for the chapter in your bibliography. For repeat references to a single chapter from a book, meanwhile, you can use a shorter citation format. This usually involves either: Giving just the author’s surname and a new page number. Using the Latin abbreviations â€Å"ibid.,† â€Å"op. cit.,† and â€Å"loc. cit.† Check your style guide for more information on which approach to use. Chapters from Edited Books in an Oxford Bibliography In your bibliography, you should list all cited sources alphabetically by author surname with full publication information. For a chapter from an edited book, this includes: Author Surname, Initial(s)., â€Å"Chapter Title,† in Editor’s Initial(s) and Surname (ed.), Book Title, place of publication, publisher, year, complete page range. As you can see, this is similar to the first footnote citation format. The key differences in the bibliography are that you give: The author’s surname first, followed by initials The page range for the entire chapter, not a pinpoint citation In practice, then, we would list the chapter cited above as follows: Rosenzweig, M.
